Asus Zenfone 5 Unboxing and Hands-on Review

After not posting anything for a month no, I've decided to do an unboxing and a hands-on review of the Asus Zenfone 5. So before anything else, I will not going to make a full review of this phone mainly because it's not mine and there are tons of reviews on the net. So without further adieu, let's get started.

And that's pretty much of`it.

Hands-on Review

Design

We have here the cherry red Asus Zenfone 5. The first thing you'll notice is that the Asus Zenfone 5 feels light. It's taller compared to other 5-inch smartphones. You'll also notice the circular-brushed aluminum design below the capacitive buttons. Even though it's covered with plastic, it still feels premium on the hand because of its brushed-aluminum-matte-curve back (that's a mouthful).

On front you'll find the 2MP front facing camera, 3 capacitive buttons: back, home, and recent, and the 5-inch screen.

At the right side you'll find the power/unlock button, nothing on the left side. At the bottom you'll find the mic and the micro USB slot. On top you'll find another mic and 3.5 mm headphone jack.

At the back you'll find the 8MP rear camera with LED flash, and the speaker.

As I said earlier, the Asus Zenfone 5 is taller compare to other 5-inch smartphones. I compared it to my LG G2 which has 5.2-inch screen. As you can see (click the photo to enlarge), it's taller than my G2 and a bit wider.

Performance

The Asus Zenfone 5 has Intel Atom Z2560 dual-core processor clocked at 1.6GHz with Hyper Threading Technology which gives a total of 4 logical cores. Upon using it for a while, the phone runs buttery smooth. I didn't try to play games because I can't download games from the Play Store and I don't know why. Scrolling and doing pitch to zoom on chrome is okay. But the one thing I've noticed was when I open the Play Store app, sometimes the animation lags. But other than that, it's really fast compare to other budget smartphones.

So what are your thoughts on the Asus Zenfone 5? Will you go get one?
