Millerton Roadside Power bank Unboxing and Review

We all know that smartphones drain there batteries fast and most of the time we're frustrated because they are always dead or in low battery state. Fear not, the Millerton Roadside Power bank is to the rescue. This powerbank badass has 11800mAh Samsung batteries.

The bubble wrap of the power bank was threw. XD
Millerton Roadside Power bank specifications:
  • 11800mAh True Samsung Batteries
  • Dual charging capabilities (1A and 2A)
  • Flashlight function
  • Overcharging and overcurrent protection
  • Free of hazardous substances
  • Capable with all phones, tablets, music players, feature phones, and brands
  • Contoured, well-built designs
  • Free charging cable and 6 connector tips

Here the charging cable, and the 6 connector tips. I've tried to use it to charge my mom's Xperia ZL, and it charge it fast. It's like it was plug-in into a wall socket using its wall charger. I think what's missing here in a lightning connector but since it has a USB slot, you can just plug it there.

The Millerton Roadside Power bank has 4 LED indicator which indicates the battery life of the power bank. Well, I think that each circle-like indicator is equivalent to 25% of its battery. So when it only have 75% of its battery life, it will just light 3 LED indicators and so on.

Last thing about the Milerton Roadside Power bank is its ability to be a flashlight by holding its power button. It can't replace your ordinary flashlight but in some emergency cases, you can use it as a flashlight.

That's it. Oops I almost forgot. You can buy this on Kimstore for the price of Php1,999 (Original price os Php3,000).

    1. Well, I think you can't turn off the device. It's like on standby mode all the time. The purpose of the "power button" is to check the remaining stored battery life and to use the flash light. :)

    1. You can charge the powerbank by inerting microUSB cable to its microUSB slot and plug it in to a laptop or pc. I ask kimstore last week if I can use a smartphone charger to charge the powerbank, and they said I can't. :D

    2. does this mean that I can only charge it with my laptop or pc? thanks

    3. That's what kimstore said. But I'm planning to use my G2's wall charger to charge it.

  12. I also bought this one from Kimstore and I'm using it with my Note 3 (3200mAh). Twice lang nia na full charge un Note 3. 3rd time hindi na. Ganun lang ba talaga un?

    1. Is your powerbank is fully charge when you use it to charge your Note 3?

    2. Yes. Fully charged po.

By the way, 9 hours exact ang charging time ng powerbank. I've observed it many times.

  13. Either using your smartphone's wall charger or charging it on your PC, it takes 9 hours exact to make it fully charged. My only problem is that it can only make my Note3 battery (3200mAh) full twice. Anyone here having the same observation? Please do explain Mr. Juan. SUPER THANKS!

    1. Theoretically speaking, I think the entire 11800mAh battery of the powerbank isn't mean to use for charging. There's a certain amount of battery capacity for the flashlight. It's like the whole battery was partition in order to use the things that it can do.

I'm really not sure with my answer since I don't know how Millerton created this device. Sorry. :(

    2. Regarding the capacity, yung 11,800mAh ay rated sa 3.7V battery cells (same battery cells used on laptops)

Ang power output ng powerbank is 5V, ibig sabihin nag i squeeze out ka ng 5V mula sa 3.7V na cells.

bale magiging computation nya, 3.7 divided by 5.0 which is 0.74 (3.7/5=0.74) meaning 74% lang ng 11,800mAh yung true capacity

    1. I think you can use your iPhone 5's charger to charge it. Just be sure that you use a USB cable instead of the stock lightning cable.

I used my LG G2's wall charger once. Planning to use it again after I drain all of its juice. :D

  16. Hello pwede kaya to sa cellphone ko? nadodoubt kasi ako kasi yung nasa output ng charger ko is : 5v ; (1.5A)1500ma while itong powerbabk na to is 5v ; 2A(2000ma) at 1A(1000ma) .. Hindi kaya makakasama sa phone ko to ? I mean hindi kaya lomobo ang batt ?

    1. Have you tried to use other USB cables?

      Delete
    2. Yup...I tried already different cables...btw, it's only 3 mos old pala.I bought it last October 23. Kimstore told me that the warranty is only 3 mos so hindi daw ako umabot. Last night I tried to open it, you can never avoid having the sides with marks kasi hindi mo sya mabubuksan although I already unscrewed the single screw which is covered by the back sticker. Halos masira yung plastic casing kasi sobrang tigas.yun pala meron adhesive tape in the middle part holding the battery.

Fortunately I was able to make it work again =).but it almost made my power bank a total mess since its not as good looking as it was before.

  19. which usb port is 2A? the left or the right?..

    thnx in advance...

    ReplyDelete
  20. Higher ampere(A) rating usually fast charges your battery. But it also heats it up. Slow charging with appropriate ampere extends your battery life. Usually using your laptop's usb port wont fully charge since its ampere raring is low as compared to your usb wall chargers.

  23. Been using Millerton Power Bank smoothly and safely. All's well with my Z1 and ipod touch. Good product, affordable price

  24. I think I will agree with *Jed's explanation about the true capacity of the powerbank. That's what I complained with Kim Store... Sa isang full charge ng powerbank (used samsung charger with 2,000mAh output) isang beses nya macharge yung Xperia V (1,750mAh) ko at di na mafull charge ang Galaxy Tab 2 (4,000mAh). Siguro nga this powerbank is for smartphones only (below 2,000mAh) and not for larger or higher capacity device

  25. Another question alin sa dalawang USB slot yung 1A at 2A?

    ReplyDelete

    1. kadarating lang ng millerton ko kanina. as per the included user manual, the one on the left is the 1A port and on the opposite site will be the 2A port.

  26. same question which of the 2 ports are for the apple devices like iphone 5s and the which side is for the other smart phones?

    ReplyDelete
  27. same question which of the 2 sides are for the iphones5/5s and whoch one is for the other smart phones.... If Jeds explanation on the capacity is correct 8000mah still cost around the same. so i think ndi pa den talo sa power bank nato... most likely other powerbanks have the same concept so kung 5000-6000mah sa kanila edi mas mababa pa lalo yung nakukuha nila just my opinion

    ReplyDelete
  28. Jed's computation is correct. Actually, 11,800mah is not the true capacity as what Jed said, because it uses Lithium-ion batteries (Li-ion) with output voltage of 3.7V. You need 5V to charge you devices like smartphones and tablets so you need to convert 3.7V to 5V before it can charge. For example, this millerton powerbank w/ 11,800mah, we will compute for the energy of the power device since energy is transferred not the capacity (milliampere-hour).

    11,800mah x 3.7V / 1000 = 43.66 Watt hour (energy of powerbank)

    watt = volt x ampere

    43.66Wh / 5V = 8.732Ah = 8732mah (output capacity of powerbank at 5V)

Actually this is not yet the final conversion since there are things you need to consider like energy loss. Lets say 5% or 10%, say 10% loss we have:

    8732mah x 90% = 7858.8 mah (output at 5V)

So for 3200mah battery of Note 3, you can only full charge it twice. Hope this hepls.
