Samsung Series 5 NP-535U4C-A01PH Review

*Before anything else, I'm just an amateur in reviewing stuffs plus some of the sentences here are grammatically wrong. Sorry about that.*

There are basically two types of the Samsung Series 5 Slimbook 535, and I have here the Samsung Series 5 NP-535U4C-A01PH or the Series 5 Slimbook 535 14-inch AMD quad-core version. (There is a 13.3inch AMD dual-core version.) So, let's get started.

Design

The 14-inch Samsung Series 5 Slimbook 535 (*Ugh long name, we should call him Series 5*) has an aluminum chassis and it feels sturdy. The good thing about its chassis is that it doesn't get any smudges and fingerprints.

At the left side, you'll find the charging port, LAN port, 2 USB 3.0 ports, VGA output, Full HDMI port, and a headset jack.

At the right side, you'll find the Multi-card slot, a USB 2.0 port, optical cd drive, and the security slot.

At the top of the screen, you'll find the 1.3megapixels HD webcam, which is good at capturing and video chat.

At the upper-right corner you'll find the very unique power button.

At the lower-left corner is the mic, and the status indicators.

Keyboard and Trackpad

The Series 5 has a plastic Chiclet keyboard but it doesn't feel cheap. It's comfortable when typing because of the well space keyboard keys that are springy. Unfortunately, it's not backlit but I think it's not a problem at all.

The Series 5 trackpad is a good size for it. It's smooth and responsive when swiping and doing gestures since it's running Windows 8.

Display and Speakers

The Series 5 has a matte LED HD display which gives us the standard resolution of 1366 x 768. The screen produces fine texture and saturated colors. Video playback is great even in bright condition because of the anti-glare matte display and its 300-nits of brightness.

The Series 5 have two speakers which are located at above of the keyboard. The speakers produce clear and crisp sounds thanks to SoundAlive Technology.

Performance and Battery Life

The 14-inch Series 5 runs Windows 8 out of the box, it has AMD A8-4555M Quad-core processor clocked at 1.6Ghz, AMD Radeon HD 7600g Graphics, and 4GB Ram. If you are into gaming like me, this laptop "might" not be suited for you. It runs good at low-mid graphics games but if you'll run graphic intensive games like Crysis, COD, HoN, etc... it's somehow playable. The fps probably around 17-28fps (still playable for me. XD). Though this laptop is good for typing, surfing the internet, programming, watching videos, and visiting social networking sites.

The battery life of the Series 5 is pretty good. In fact, I manage to have almost 5 hrs. of average usage(surfing the net, copying files, and typing only.). Video playback and playing games are around 3 hrs. It really depends on how you use it.

Conclusion

So, if you're looking for a laptop that's stylish, portable, and can provide basic multimedia need, this you should check the Samsung Series 5 NP-535U4C-A01PH / Samsung Series 5 Slimbook 535 14-inch version.
